7 [a]Because the wisdom of the flesh is enmity against God: [b]for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 [c]So then they that are in the flesh, cannot please God.
9 [d]Now ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, because the spirit of God dwelleth in you: but if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, the same is not his.

- Romans 8:7 A reason why the wisdom of the flesh is enemy to God: because it neither will neither can be subject to him. And by flesh he meaneth a man not regenerate.
- Romans 8:8 The conclusion: therefore they that walk after the flesh, cannot please God: whereby it followeth, that they are not ingrafted into Christ.
